On May 13, 2011, the Zoo's 29-year-old African elephant, Shenga, ventured into the North Pool at African Elephant Crossing and surprised our visitors by taking a very enthusiastic bath in the pool. We were lucky enough to catch the entire thing on video - and here it is.
"Our newest female elephant, Shenga (who came to Cleveland from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo) went for a swim last week in the North Pool at African Elephant Crossing. We caught it on video!"

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo opened its new African Elephant Crossing exhibit on May 5. It's home to five elephants, one male and four females.
One of the females is Shenga, who lived at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo until March.
After her exhibit mate died late last year, keepers in Omaha knew the best thing for Shenga was to move her to an exhibit that could give her companions. The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was selected partly because of the five-acre African Elephant Crossing exhibit.

I eagerly anticipate associating with new individuals with an interest or history in elephants, elephant history and elephant record keeping. If you have further information regarding the animals or locations questioned in the article, please leave a comment or message me in an effort to complete their records for elephant historians.
