Chris Hamblen Collection - Whipsnade Wild Animal Park I

The following photographs were graciously shared by Chris Hamblen from the Whipsnade Wild Animal Park in the United Kingdom during winter 2010.

The young female pictured is Donna, born in July 2009 to 27 year old, third time mother Kayee. Although she became the tenth calf (including three stillborn fetuses) sired by her father Emmett, only two half-brothers survived at the time of Donna's birth. She since has been joined by another half-brother sired by Emmett - George, born in April 2010.

Donna's birth raised the Whipsnade Asian elephant herd size to seven. With the birth of George, the park now houses two male and six female elephants.

I eagerly anticipate associating with new individuals with an interest or history in elephants, elephant history and elephant record keeping. If you have further information regarding the animals or locations questioned in the article, please leave a comment or message me in an effort to complete their records for elephant historians.
