  1. Radar,
What happens if you keep backing up until you come to a wall? Is that when an "accident" is apt to occur? I wonder what would be responsible in that case, the wall or the garbage container? I'm thinking the wheels because it permits the garbage container to get close to the wall in the first place.
Although, we can't overlook the handles responsibility, as that most likely would be the first point of contact, then the wall should an "accident" occur. Bless those "gentle giants." It look's to me like they are making every effort to rescue him from the convicted and often found guilty enclosure wall.

  2. Radar,
Did you find out what caused the deformity on Sabu's lower spine? Is it genetic or environmental?

  3. Wade,
I do not know about his back. He was imported in 1988 from Malaysia for breeding purposes. He has thus far bred twice successfully, once at Cincinnati and then again in Springfield. The handler announced at the end of the Elephant Encounter that breeding is still attempted with Sabu and the youngest cow Jati but they were so far unsuccessful.

  4. This guy is a great trainer. He is training her to be aggressive, and doesn't even know it, because he is that good! Then we get to hear it was an accident. She slipped and fell on him, she was just playing. She doesn't know her own size and strength.

I eagerly anticipate associating with new individuals with an interest or history in elephants, elephant history and elephant record keeping. If you have further information regarding the animals or locations questioned in the article, please leave a comment or message me in an effort to complete their records for elephant historians.
